Where The Turf Meets The Surf

Ben, Lanie and I are meeting some friends at Del Mar today. It should be a lovely afternoon betting the ponies. Maybe I'll bring my camera and share some pics later. Take a look at today's entries and let me know if you want me to bet one for you. www.dmtc.com

Let's see my return on a $50 betting day

Based on $2 bets you would have had a great day! Check out your results:

Race 1 - Ready Maid- win paid $9.40 -$2 bet=$7.40 up
Race 2 - Cavanaugh- show (close but no cigar) $5.40 up
Race 3 - Yankee Bay / Chancellor exacta box (so close! they finished 2nd and 3rd) $1.40 up
Race 4 - Flip The Penny (123) win! (paid $14) $13.40 up
Race 5 - Ididntmeanto / La Mina exacta box (holy crap!) ($1 ebx paid $28.50 but you probably did the $2 ebx) $66.40 up
Race 6 - *Lainies Lion (I bet this too but no luck) $64.40 up
Race 7 - Darkness Night (also my pick but again no luck) $62.40 up
Race 8 - Leonides (scratched) still $62.40 up
Race 9 - Patch of Blue (win! paid $12.40-$2 bet) $72.80 up for the day! Sweet!

You probably would have made more if you brought $50 to bet with. My calculations only had you bet $20.

OOPS! Just realized you said across the board on all those... my calculations are off now.

DOH! I just heard all your messages... I could have really used your help. Too bad your stellar handicapping went unpaid.

You blew it! My calculations were: I bet $44 ($50, but refunded $6 because Leonides scratched!) and came home with $97.70. Not a bad little profit!

Actually, with $47.70 as your profit you would have done better by betting less. I had you betting $20 and profitting $72.80. Either way, though, I am very amazed at how well you did. I didn't have any winners. The closest I got was having one of my horses in an exacta place, but not the other. And when I bet one across the board it didn't even show.

Kara, in your most recent posts, Mel has a picture of the east coast and you have one of the west coast.

That's all I have to say about that.

Ame, are you on a Forrest Gump kick lately?

Yes!
