Apple Complaint

It's rare that there is anything to complain about when it comes to Mac computers; however, I have found a serious flaw. The Airport Extreme card that is the required wireless card for our Power Mac G5 can't pick up a signal because of the metal casing around the computer! What? Yes, this was confirmed with the technician on the phone who suggested we buy an external antenna to boost the signal. An antenna that isn't for sale at the Apple store, by the way. Don't you think that if this is a problem with these models that they would have a different type of card built for the G5's? One that is installed like regular cards that stick out of the back of the computer? Anyway, Ben took the side off of the computer and suddenly the signal is at 100%, so it's really true- the metal is affecting the signal. Crazy. Had to get this off my chest.

UPDATE: Apple has redeemed themselves big-time! We ordered the external antenna last NIGHT over the phone and it was on our (Amy's) doorstep THIS MORNING. And it works great! Full signal with the computer properly closed back up.

That is crazy--and so un-Mac.

I talked to Papa today, and it sounds like his computer problems are getting worse. He said he's ready to upgrade to a new iMac.

Just when you thought Apple let you down! I'm glad they came through.
