My first boss, Admissions director at the Rock, Larry Murphy passed away last week after a long battle with liver cancer. The large man with an even larger personality, was responsible for many one-liners that I still use today.
"Miss Smith, you're working the 'candy lot' today. They call it the 'candy lot' because all you'll make in tips is a piece of candy."
I also dedicated an entire summer learning to talk like him. (He had a very unique voice!) All of my practice made for a very effective impersonation, and I was slightly nervous that I'd never be able to talk in my normal voice again.
Anyway, Larry will be very missed!

as much as we'll miss Larry, we are glad that you are just as good as ever with your Larry impersonation. My sincere sympathy for his family.
Sad news. It was hard not to smile when The Murph was around. He will be sorely missed by many.
I remember when he arrived at Mom's wake and saw me crying. He brought me into a separate room in the funeral home and gave me a lecture about how I need to keep going, etc. It was really sweet.
