First Day of Second Grade

Another school year has begun! Lanie is now a 2nd grader. Her school, a normal K-6 elementary school, is divided into two separate buildings with the Kindergarteners-2nd graders in one building and 3rd-6th graders in the other. When she started Kindergarten, I remember noticing the 2nd graders at her school and thinking that they seemed so much older and different than Lanie and her classmates. They seemed more confident, having been there for two years already, and knew the building and staff so well, that there was an unspoken ease with how they entered the building, said good-bye to their parents and made their way to their classroom. I can't believe Lanie is now one of those kids! There were no first day jitters. She confidently and excitedly jumped out the car at drop off this morning without turning back to wave good-by. Where did my baby go? And to think that next year Alden will start preschool!?

Alden wanted to pose like Lanie!

It does go so fast! I can't believe this is Emma's LAST year at elementary school. Not sure I'm ready for middle school :/

Totally weird! Remember when it was all about "two mornings" (Emma in Kindergarten and Sophie in pre-school)? Now middle school is looming!? It's mind boggling, really.
