Belated Halloween

Halloween was postponed not once but twice this year due to storms. In fact, it was the second year in a row that we trick-or-treated with some patches of snow left on the ground from a freak snowstorm. I think this is pretty unprecedented stuff- I wonder if it ever happened in my lifetime prior to this? Despite the delays, the kids had a great time.

This was the year of two costumes. Cousin Sophie hand-me-downed her old witch costume to Lanie, but witches are not allowed at Lanie's school. So, we also got a butterfly costume that Lanie wore to her school party on Thursday. Tonight, for trick-or-treating, she opted to be the witch (which is good because it barely fits her anymore!). For Elijah

Our nephew Elijah is a big Minnie Mouse fan, so this is for him. Lanie found this template online for her pumpkin. She and Ben carved it last weekend because, well, because they are impulsive. Guess where it is today? In the trash because it is moldy. Glad I got a picture when I did.

Halloween Sneak Peek

Today, Lanie got to suit up early in her beloved "Tinker Bell" Halloween costume for a neighborhood fall festival hosted by the local elementary school. There were games, pumpkin decorating, a costume parade and all sorts of fun activities for kids. Lanie scored a pet goldfish which she named "Sammy." I give Sammy one week.

More Halloween

Here are a few of the shots that I just got back from Halloween. The girls were all so cute and had a great time. Each of the last two mornings, Lanie has woken up talking about trick-or-treating and/or her candy.

The Pink Poodle

This is the Halloween costume I just bought for Lanie today. On sale at Old Navy and only $16.87. She is super cute in it! I didn't want to make the same mistake I made last year by waiting too long to get the costume. If I find something I like better I may return this one. But for now, I am happy with it.
